Look who I found on the patio this morning!
Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability.
Summer afternoon, summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.
One must maintain a little bit of summer, even in the middle of winter.
Henry David Thoreau
“Bees do have a smell, you know, and if they don't they should, for their feet are dusted with spices from a million flowers.”
― Ray Bradbury, Dandelion Wine
I hope you are all well and enjoying all of the wonders of life and this glorious summertime.
We will be able to enjoy some of it together tomorrow evening when we gather at 6 Pm at St. Augustine's Episcopal Church on Lower College Road in Kingston. We will enjoy sitting/walking/and sitting and we will be focusing on the Eight Realizations of Great Beings. Cindy will be facilitating. I hope you will be able to be with us.
Also, our dear Sangha sister Renee had shoulder surgery recently. She is at home recovering and for now she is all set but she might need some help in the weeks ahead with rides as she won't be able to drive. She will keep us posted. In the meantime, please hold her in your prayers and send lots of healing energy her way. You might also like to send a love note to Renee VanCouyghan 57 Avice Street, Narragansett , RI 02882. And if you might be available to offer rides in the future, you might let her know!
Also remember the Sangha Picnic at Colt State Park on Saturday September 21 at 11 AM Shelter #3. Bring a dish to share, a game a song, your family, your friends, a pet, and most importantly your own sweet self! It's always a delight. I hope you will be able to be with us.
The times we are living in are getting more turbulent. As we always talk about...it is important to maintain our energy to help where we can and to take good care of our consciousness so that the help we offer will be from a place of love for our fellow beings...here is a beautiful example of Engaged Buddhism...Love in Action. Some folks from our Order were able to participate and one of them wrote this article for the Lion's Roar magazine.
Also some of you had asked about the Sutra on Transforming Violence and Fear. about which I spoke at our last meeting. The text can be found here...
And to water some seeds of joy....I share a delight from my childhood. He was one of my favorites. (and for those of you who enjoy classical music...remember the Kingston Chamber Music Festival is happening! ) Enjoy!
I hope that we will be able to be together soon. And in the meantime, I hope that you are focusing on all of the conditions for happiness that are available to you in every minute!
with much love and the deep peace of a summer evening for you,
