Cheerful last blooms of summer...
Protect your enthusiasm from the negativity of others. H. Jackson Brown, Jr.
Human greatness does not lie in wealth or power, but in character and goodness. People are just people, and all people have faults and shortcomings, but all of us are born with a basic goodness. Anne Frank
There is no greatness where there is no simplicity, goodness and truth. Leo Tolstoy
God's dream is that you and I and all of us will realize that we are family, that we are made for togetherness, for goodness, and for compassion. Desmond Tutu
I hope you are all well and watering lots of seeds of your basic goodness and keeping your minds in the highest and best places as we navigate some turbulent times.
We will be able to to get together and practice that tomorrow evening when we gather at 6 PM at the home of the Wests.(directions below) We will enjoy sitting/walking and sitting meditation, continue to learn from Thay's book "At Home in the World" and share the Dharma. I hope you will be able to be with us.
We are so lucky to have the opportunity to deepen our practice with each other. Part of that is being able to be available for each other. The Caring Committee has created a survey to see how we might be willing to help one another. This is not asking you to make any commitments...simply asking what you might be willing to do when needs arise, so the Caring Committee will know who might be willing to fulfill needs as they arise. I do hope you will take a few minutes to consider some small way that you might be willing to support the Sangha...fill out the survey that they have created and return it to Dori with what you might be able to offer at firstname.lastname@example.org. Thank you for being willing to support the Sangha.
THANKSGIVING POTLUCK We will enjoy a potluck supper on Sunday the 18th. We will gather at 4 PM and enjoy a vegetarian potluck before our regular sitting at 6 PM. I hope you are able to join us. If you are, please RSVP so we can plan the space.
Here is a little video that is a lovely illustration of the basic goodness in one wonderful young woman and how the ripples have benefited so many beings. Dr. King said, "'Everyone has the power for greatness, not for fame but greatness, because greatness is determined by service.' Enjoy!
and if you are ever having trouble persevering in difficult situations...here is a baby bear that might be an inspiration for you! Enjoy! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rhjBXnEFKQs
I hope you can be with us for any or all of the above and in the meantime, I hope you are enjoying every present minute.
with much love and many blessings, Joanne

lastly, We discussed the google group use, and the desire that it generate more interest as a way of strengthening our Sangha connections. We discussed the value of reminding all, that it is more user friendly if members will do their best to “reply to sender” rather than “reply to all”. The extra mail generated in members’ mailboxes can be a detriment to our efforts of our list serve. I will likely send a gentle reminder on the google list with the same suggestion.
Please feel free to contact me with any thoughts, questions or concerns about how to strengthen our care taking efforts for our beautiful Clear Heart Sangha.
In the meanwhile, may you feel peace, love and ease, as we move towards the seasons where the natural world encourages us to slow into more stillness. Breathing in, I feel myself slowing down, Breathing out, I feel grateful,
in peace and love,
Cindy West for the Clear Heart Care Taking Committee firstname.lastname@example.org _____________________________________________________________________ DIRECTIONS TO THE WEST HOME We live about 2 miles from URI. From rt 138, go north onto Old North Rd. (across the street from big sign ““Kingston Hill Store Books Used and Rare””. Also, just a smidge west of the 138/108 traffic light). Old North Rd starts off as a one way, continues on as a two way street, and finally ends as a T. You will see our corner property from there. Go left at the T (Old North Rd meets Stoneyfort Rd), and then a quick right onto Plantation Dr. We are the first home on the right (2nd driveway is easiest). Come on in the side door (porch/kitchen)!
