9-14-17 Sunday at the West's

Walk With Us!

Dear Friends,

This is just a brief note to remind you that this coming Sunday...our gathering will be at the home of Cindy and John West. There will be sitting/ walking in the garden (weather permitting) / and sitting. We will continue to look at the teachings in the book "Silence" and share the Dharma. I hope you will be able to be there.

I am happy to announce that our second screening of "Walk With Me" is

SOLD OUT! I hope that all of you who wanted to join us were able to get tickets. I will send out more news next week.

It has been so interesting to experience the outbreaks of hatred and violence that have been on the rise in our country and then to witness in the midst of the natural disasters that have occurred the bodhicitta that arises in the hearts of folks from every race, creed, etc. Humans helping humans - often at the risk of their own lives, never stopping to inquire what faith tradition one observes, etc. We all do have Buddha nature...it would just be lovely if it did not take a crisis to uncover it in us!

Thomas Merton stated this beautifully....

“Our job is to love others without stopping to inquire whether or not they are worthy. That is not our business and, in fact, it is nobody's business. What we are asked to do is to love, and this love itself will render both ourselves and our neighbors worthy.”

Right now we need to hold all those responders and all those who are in the paths of the storms and fires all around the world and those who have already experienced the ravages of them in our hearts and prayers.

May all beings be safe. May all beings awaken to our true nature of interbeing. May all beings love and be loved.

with much love and gratitude for interbeing with all of you, Joanne

DIRECTIONS TO THE WEST HOME... We live about 2 miles from URI. From rt 138, go north onto Old North Rd. (across the street from big sign ““Kingston Hill Store Books Used and Rare””. Also, just a smidge west of the 138/108 traffic light). Old North Rd starts off as a one way, continues on as a two way street, and finally ends as a T. You will see our corner property from there. Go left at the T (Old North Rd meets Stoneyfort Rd), and then a quick right onto Plantation Dr. We are the first home on the right (2nd driveway is easiest). Come on in the side door (porch/kitchen)!
