kwan-yin-copyKwan Yin Riding the Waves of Change Fearlessly!

“Do one thing every day that scares you.” ― Eleanor Roosevelt

“There are two basic motivating forces: fear and love. When we are afraid, we pull back from life. When we are in love, we open to all that life has to offer with passion, excitement, and acceptance. We need to learn to love ourselves first, in all our glory and our imperfections. If we cannot love ourselves, we cannot fully open to our ability to love others or our potential to create. Evolution and all hopes for a better world rest in the fearlessness and open-hearted vision of people who embrace life.” ― John Lennon

“There is a stubbornness about me that never can bear to be frightened at the will of others. My courage always rises at every attempt to intimidate me.” ― Jane Austen, Pride and Prejudice

“The moment we begin to fear the opinions of others and hesitate to tell the truth that is in us, and from motives of policy are silent when we should speak, the divine floods of light and life no longer flow into our souls.” ― Elizabeth Cady Stanton

If you want to increase your fear, procrastinate, If you want to decrease your fear, act! Unknown

Dear Friends,

I hope this finds you riding those waves with equanimity. I also hope that you are not allowing the hatred and anger and disrespect that has marred this campaign season to water those same seeds of anger, hatred and disrespect in your own consciousness. We have a wonderful opportunity to expand our capacity and deepen our practice together tomorrow evening.

There will be a gathering tomorrow evening at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of South County at the Lily Pads Complex on North Rd in Peace Dale at 6 PM. Clare will facilitate and we will continue to look at the writings in Thay's book "Creating True Peace" We will enjoy a sitting meditation, a recitation of the Five Mindfulness Trainings as well as sharing the Dharma. I am particularly happy that we will be reciting the Mindfulness Trainings....Along with protecting our consciousnesses, they are all wonderful reminders of the practices we need to be cultivating in order to deepen our respect for ourselves, each other and our planet. I hope you will be able to be with us.

This is also a reminder that if you would like to support the Sangha by being on the Care Giving Council...please respond to this doodle poll and we will set up a time to look together at how we might strengthen our Sangha.

If you would like to be a part of our google group so that you can communicate directly with Sangha members, please contact Cindy at westnest5@verizon.net  and ask to be added to the list.

Also if you would like to be part of the monthly Sutra Study Conference Call, please rsvp to me and I will put you on the notification list.

Also, our dear friends, Sue and Roger Morgan, who were pillars of our Sangha before they moved to California to be close to their family and especially their grandchildren....are launching a very wonderful project. One of their grandchildren, Orion developed leukemia not so very long after they moved. He was a truly remarkable young man who proved to be a great teacher for his family and friends as he  lived with the reality of his own impermanence. He passed two years ago. He had a deep aspiration to help to create conditions for peace on earth...It was so beautiful that while Sue and Roger were here they offered a Peace Camp in the summer at the Guild and now they want to continue Orion's dream by creating a Peace Camp and Learning Center in New Mexico. They need some support....and all the info is below. Please help them if you are able.

We are so blessed to be  able to be peace together. I wanted to remind you to turn your clocks back on Saturday night and on Tuesday remember to VOTE!!!!!

In the meantime,

May all beings be healthy, happy, fearless and at peace,

with much love and fearlessness for you, Joanne

ORION'S PEACE CAMP AND LEARNING CENTER  from Sue and Roger We only have a few more days left for this funding campaign, which ends in the early a.m. on Thursday, November 10th, which is Orion's 2nd angel anniversary. We did the campaign because we've found a 256 acre property which would be perfect for Orion's Peace Camp & Learning Center and the owners want our camp there so agreed to take it off the market until the middle of November to allow us time to raise funds. We've formed a nonprofit and are collaborating with another agency with a similar mission and the property would be purchased by the nonprofit for the sole purpose of supporting the program.

I know in my heart that birthing this program is my purpose for being here this time around and I'm fascinated to see how Infinite Spirit is going to conspire to bring in the funding! The campaign we're currently running is an all or nothing proposition, which means that if we don't meet our goal, none of the pledges are debited.

We would be grateful if you would share the website information with the sangha and let them know that pledges will only be accepted for the crowdfunding campaign, until 5 a.m. on Thursday, and that we'd very much appreciate it if they could pass this information along to anyone they know who might be able to help. The website is:

So much love to you and Richard and wishes that we're able to connect again soon.

Love, Sue
