7-11-15 Sangha Update

What can I say that I have not said before? So I'll say it again. The leaf has a song in it. Stone is the face of patience. Inside the river there is an unfinishable story and you are somewhere in it and it will never end until all ends.

Take your busy heart to the art museum and the chamber of commerce but take it also to the forest. The song you heard singing in the leaf when you were a child is singing still. I am of years lived, so far, seventy-four, and the leaf is singing still.

Mary Oliver from her book "Swan"

Thay is of years lived, so far, eighty-eight and the lotus flower is singing still!

Dear Friends,

I hope this finds you all well and enjoying this glorious morning and the songs of the leaves or the lotus flowers! I will be off to the Generations Sangha soon and am feeling so grateful for our community and for the infinite gifts Thay has given us, so that we can transform and heal our suffering and be available to help each other and to enjoy all of the wonders of life.

There will be another opportunity to enjoy practicing together tomorrow evening at 6 at the home of Cindy West. (directions are below) There will be sitting and walking meditation and Cindy will facilitate a sharing of Thay's book "Reconciliation" and there will be a sharing of the Dharma. I hope you will be able to be there!

PLEASE NOTE: The next two Sundays ...the 19th and the 26th we will be meeting at our home. The Van Horns are unable to host the 4th Sunday...so both the 3rd and 4th Sundays will be at our house.

Next Saturday we will have an OI/Aspirant gathering at the Bell Street Chapel in Providence at 10 AM. We will recite the Fourteen Mindfulness Trainings and share the Dharma. This meeting is open to Order members, aspirants and anyone who would like to learn more about our tradition. There will be a gathering of the Radiant Bell Sangha before that meeting from 8-9:45. You can attend that ...all are welcome...and make it into a half day of mindfulness...(although we hope that every day is a full day of mindfulness!) I hope you will be able to be with us.

Please remember that there are all kinds of resources for practice available to us at the monastery websites...plumvillage.org, bluecliffmonastery.org, etc. etc. and many practice opportunities and retreats being offered at Blue Cliff and Morning Sun Community ...morningsuncommunity.org. Also many of Thay's talks are available at tnhaudio.org and on youtube.

If you would like to have your spirits raised this morning, you might enjoy this.... we can ask for help....and doors that we had not imagined might open providing all kinds of opportunities for love and connection! https://www.facebook.com/Upworthy/videos/1042972302410294/?pnref=story

I hope to be able to be with all of you soon and in the meantime, I hope that you are able to spend some time leaf listening!

with much love and the song of a lotus flower for you, Joanne DIRECTIONS TO THE WEST HOME.. from Cindy.... We live about 2 miles from URI.  From rt 138, go north onto Old North Rd.  (across the street from  big sign ““Kingston Hill Store  Books  Used and Rare””.  Also, just a smidge west of the 138/108 traffic light).  Old North Rd starts off as a one way, continues on as a two way street, and finally ends as a T.  You will see our corner property from there.  Go left at the T (Old North Rd meets Stoneyfort Rd), and then a quick right onto Plantation Dr.  We are the first home on the right (2nd driveway is easiest).  Come on in the side door (porch/kitchen)!
