Dear Friends, I hope you are all well and warm and weathering the weather with equanimity. I am sorry for the delay of this email.
This is a reminder that there will be a gathering tonight at 6 PM at the Unitatian Universalist Congregation of South County. There will be sitting meditation, Kate O'Kula will be facilitating a Dharma sharing on the next chapter in The Heart of the Buddha's Teachings....on the Paramitas. There will be a recitation of the Five Mindfulness Trainings and a sharing of the Dharma. I hope you will be able to attend.
I am sorry to say that Richard's mother died unexpectedly this past Wednesday. She was very sweet (after all she was Richard's mother!) and had been developing Alzheimer's. She had also lost her husband 4 months ago...so she kept saying that she couldn't wait to die and join him. She was absolutely fearless about death and ready to go. Her acceptance was a blessing for all of us....she just surprised us by being able to go so soon. And though she got her wish, she will be sorely missed by all of us. Please hold Richard, his sister and his mother in your prayers and meditations. You can send a love note of support to him at 725 Matunuck School House Rd. Wakefield, RI 02879.
I also cannot thank all of you enough who sent me love notes and donated to get me a retreat (what a joy!) and to make such an enormous contribution to the TNH Foundation to support Thay and the monastics, I was overwhelmed with gratitude...the folks that were there when i was presented with these gifts will attest to that. There is nothing that you could have given me that would have meant more. Thay has given me so much and sharing what he has given me has been what I could do to show my enormous gratitude. To be able to offer financial support at a time when it is so needed....I still get very moved just thinking about it! Thank you so much. I have continued to be so moved by the love letters I have received from so many of you. . Although, due to their numbers and the happenings of this past week I have just begun to savor them, I have never felt more loved. I am so blessed. Each one of you is a true blessing and I love you dearly.
Also please remember that there will be a Day of Mindfulness in Franklin, MA on Saturday, March 7 during which we will focus on Fear and Cultivating Fearlessness. I will include info below and you can also find information and registration forms at joannefriday.com I hope you will be able to be with us.
The annual Aldersgate Retreat is being organized by the RICommunity of Mindfulness Planning Team. It will take place May 15-19 and the focus will be Letting Go With Grace.
