Happy New Year!A Time for Beginning Anew!

The bud stands for all things, even for those things that don’t flower, for everything flowers, from within, of self-blessing; though sometimes it is necessary to reteach a thing its loveliness, to put a hand on its brow of the flower and retell it in words and in touch it is lovely until it flowers again from within, of self-blessing; -excerpt from St. Francis and the Sow by Galway Kinnell

Dear Friends,

Happy New Year! We have successfully completed yet another voyage around the sun! It has been a delight to be traveling with you. I hope you are enjoying these first days of the new year with a renewed spirit and inspired to manifest all of your gifts for the benefit of all beings...to flower again from within, of self blessing. The monastics suggested that we begin our new year sending love letters....it is a wonderful practice...one a day ...it's even better than vitamins!

I also hope that you will be able to join us on Sunday evening at 6 PM a our home at 725 Matunuck School House Rd. in Wakefield. We will be enjoying the New Years Ceremony to honor our ancestors. Please bring a photograph or two of your ancestor/ancestors for the ancestor altar and a bell for yourself and one to share -( if you have an extra) so that we will be able to do our annual bell meditation to welcome in the new year.

We will finally be having the much anticipated and long-awaited Day of Mindfulness on Facilitating from Within in the Tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh.  on Saturday, January 24 at the First Unitarian Church in Providence, RI,from 10-3:30 all are welcome. If you presently facilitate at Sangha gatherings...or if you would like to learn about it and do that in the future...or if you are just interested...please join us. The last one was very fruitful and this one is coming together and promises to offer lots of new possibilities to benefit from the Sangha wisdom, to support each other as we practice together, and to be joyfully together. I hope you will be able to join us.

Please register for this day ... The registration form is below. Please fill it out (you can copy and paste it into and email) and send it to Susan...all her contact info is below. It is important that we have contact info for all who are attending as we will want to send you some materials beforehand. Thank you, thank you!

REQUEST FOR HELP... We have some friends who want to join us who are coming from other states. We are looking for people who might be willing to provide accommodations for them the night before. If you have space, please let me know. We are also looking for someone to coordinate those needing space with those offering space.  If you could do that please let me know. It would be deeply appreciated.

I have also been invited to offer a Day of Mindfulness at Riverside Church in NYC on January 17. On Thich Nhat Hanh and Martin Luther King, Jr. as Brothers. If you will be in New York or know folks that will be, please let them know! 10-4:30 Rm 20 T The Riverside Church 91 Claremont Ave. New York, New York RSVP to marjoriem4@juno.com

This is a link to a wonderful article and video from the New York Times about a soup kitchen in Chelsea...with a grand piano where broadway performers entertain. It is a real reminder that we have our work cut out for us and an inspiration to share our gifts....Enjoy!!! http://www.nytimes.com/2014/12/30/nyregion/at-a-manhattan-soup-kitchen-piano-music-is-always-on-the-menu.html?module=Search&mabReward=relbias%3Aw&_r=0
