Deep Peace of a Calm Spring Day for You on the Anniversary of D Day
May all beings study war no more and be peace.
“We who have touched war have a duty to bring the truth about war to those who have not had a direct experience of it. We are the light at the tip of the candle. It is really hot, but it has the power of shining and illuminating. If we practice mindfulness, we will know how to look deeply into the nature of war and, with our insight, wake people up so that together we can avoid repeating the same horrors again and again."
― Thích Nhất Hạnh,
I hope you are well and happy and being peace.
This is a reminder that there will be a gathering at 6 PM on Sunday at the home of Cindy and John West.(info and directions below.) There will be sitting meditation, a talk about the next chapter in Thay's book, "Fear" and a sharing of the Dharma. I hope you will be able to attend.
I am asking for you to keep my father, a veteran of WWII, in your prayers and in your hearts. He fell on Wednesday and has been in the hospital since. He is 94 years old and has been very agitated...a combination of the medication and hospitalization, I think. So please send him your peaceful energy. I have complete confidence in the power of prayer and all of you!
Also, the Radiant Bell Sangha is sponsoring a Day of Mindfulness at the New Dawn Earth Center,75 Wrentham Rd. Cumberland, RI on June 28th from 12 to 4pm. We will enjoy sitting and walking meditation, I will give a short talk and we will be walking theLabyrinth. The focus for the day will be Loving the Earth. The New Dawn Earth Center is an ecological education center run by the Sisters of Mercy. Please bring a brown bag lunch. There are picnic tables and rest rooms as well as lovely meditative walking trails through the woods. The Sisters of Mercy who sponsor the center on their motherhouse grounds are welcoming us free of charge so, if you are able, there will be an opportunity to make a donation to help them in this work. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate. If it rains we will have to try another time maybe at the end of summer or early fall. It will be wonderful to have the opportunity for our Mindfulness Community to be together in this lovely setting.

“URI’s Center for Nonviolence Summer Institute will have its community meal on June 9 at 6PM. The Clear Heart sangha has been a contributor to this important annual gathering that is resonant with our practice. People are welcome to bring a side dish, salad or dessert to the meal (entrees, green salad and drinks will be provided). This institute includes students from many different countries and it is a gift to support their training in nonviolence and peace studies and to learn about various projects locally and worldwide. Please call Clare at 401-741-6846 if you are able to attend. We are also seeking people to help with set-up beforehand or clean up afterwards. Jennifer Cawley will have some of her artwork displayed at the time of the Institute as well.”

with much love and the deep peace of three conscious breaths for you,
DIRECTIONS TO THE WEST HOME
We live about 2 miles from URI. From rt 138, go north onto Old North Rd. (across the street from big sign ““Kingston Hill Store Books Used and Rare””. Also, just a smidge west of the 138/108 traffic light). Old North Rd starts off as a one way, continues on as a two way street, and finally ends as a T. You will see our corner property from there. Go left at the T (Old North Rd meets Stoneyfort Rd), and then a quick right onto Plantation Dr. We are the first home on the right (2nd driveway is easiest). Come on in the side door (porch/kitchen)!
