Thay at Copley Square
Happy International Day of Peace!
Meditation can help us embrace our worries, our fear, our anger; and that is very healing. We let our own natural capacity of healing do the work.
I hope this finds you filled with peace, joy and serenity and sharing it with everyone you meet!
First of all a big Thank You to Cindy for organizing our trip to Boston...She secured a van for 12 and we picked up folks in South County, Warwick, Cranston and Providence! It was wonderful to be able to go together and experience being peace amidst the hustle and bustle of Boston and to help Thay bring peaceful energy to a place where so much violence has happened in the past. It was also wonderful to see so many Sangha siblings up there!
This is a reminder that there will NOT be an OI/Aspirant Recitation Ceremony this coming Saturday...because that is when we will be having the state-wide Sangha picnic. I hope that you will all be able to attend. It will be at Colt State Park in Bristol, RI. - a very beautiful spot from 11-3. Please bring your friends and family, a vegetarian dish to share, a game, song story, poem, A FOLDING CHAIR!....etc, etc. It is always a lot of fun. The website Bodhisattvas have made all of the info available at http://joannefriday.com/calendar/ We can celebrate being peacefully and joyfully together on the International Day of Peace!
This Tuesday there will be a gathering at St. Matthew and Mark Chuch in West Barrington at 6:30. . There will be sitting/walking/sitting...I will offer a Dharma talk and we will enjoy sharing the Dharma. I hope you will be able to be with us.
At our last meeting of the Clear Heart Sangha, Clare mentioned that the One Earth Sangha is looking for sanghas all over the world to practice and raise our awareness during the first week in October...and hopefully for always! .... if anyone has any ideas, info or initiatives they would like to share, please send them to me for the next update. This from Clare....
Please let the sangha know about One Earth Sangha and their upcoming Earth Care Week ( ). This week will be a time dedicated for sanghas around the world to talk about climate change, practice wise action, and celebrate the beauty of the earth.
This initiative grew out of a conversation with sangha members and the Interfaith Power & Light to grow the Buddhist response to climate change. There are no Buddhist members on the R.I. chapter currently. They would welcome the presence of people practicing interbeing. Perhaps during the entire month of October, the various sanghas in R.I. could bring a focus on our relationship with the environment and offer actions to reduce consumption and protect and celebrate the earth.
The New London Sangha is offering a weekend with John Bell at Senexet House. Oct. 18-20. You can get all of the info from Erin at firstname.lastname@example.org.
The West Hartford Sangha is offering a DOM on "Cultivating Fearlessness and Joy in Uncertain Times" with me...Saturday, Oct. 26. more info at joannefriday.com
with much love, many hugs, and the joy of being peace on the last days of summer for you,
