“Summer afternoon—summer afternoon; to me those have always been the two most beautiful words in the English language.”

Deep summer is when laziness finds respectability.

A WONDERFUL REMINDER OF WHO WE TRULY ARE.....
It has been very sad to see the level of racism that still exists in our culture....This is a wonderful video to remind us of the freedom and joy that comes when we have not been conditioned to hate....from the mouths of babes...
In the category of "most unlikely" below you will find a letter from Sister Chan Khong about a film being made about Thich Nhat Hanh. Thay has been in films before...but this one is being made by the maker of very violent films...like"Mortal Kombat"!!! They are looking for help in finishing it up. If you feel moved to help that would be lovely...but whatever you do ... you will be surprised at the video clip. Enjoy!
Speaking of enjoying.....I hope you are enjoying every moment and in the meantime, I hope you are keeping cool!
with much love and a cool summer breeze for you,
More info about these events at tnhtour.org........................
REQUEST FOR HELP FROM BLUE CLIFF
Next Saturday, 7/27 is the last weekend of Community Saturday Working Meditation, where the Friday and Saturday night stays are pay-what-you-will. Unless you are coming for the August retreat with our teacher, Thich Nhat Hanh, or the Sept. 1st Day of Mindfulness, next weekend is your last chance to visit the monastery until general admission re-opens on November 14th. Give our new ride-sharing bulletin board a try and car-pool up! Of course, please register as usual with the form on our website. Thanks, and hope to see you!
REQUEST FOR SUPPORT FOR A MOVIE ABOUT THAY
Larry Kasanoff (the man that you can see on the link below) is a successful film maker but only of violent films. He is the producer of the film Mortal Kombat ... a very violent, but successful film, BEFORE meeting Thay. Now he wants to make a film on Mindfulness in the style of non-religious, non-buddhist, ONLY MINDFULNESS to connect with as many as possible non-believers, etc.. The two only main actors of Mindfulness are Thay Thich Nhat Hanh and from time-to-time me (Chan Khong). He put his own money six years ago, every time Thay and me came to Deer Park he filmed about 2 hours and is about to complete the film. Until now he spent his own money (money to hire people to record Thay and me) and he said this film needs the last editing touches to be completed. As he has no way to raise some money, he asked us students of Thay to put this publicity in our Facebook or Youtube of Plum Village. I just send it to you for curiosity. I have no idea. Maybe you can feel inspired and want to give a few dollars. Here is the much anticipated link to the documentary, MINDFULNESS THE MOVIE. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/679036928/mindfulness-the-movie For my generation I see that this film is so funny.Thank you for having a look. For me it is really a funny film, beyond my expectations, such a contrast with film I used to see! Chan Khong
