7-12-13 Sangha Update

The deep peace of a Summer evening for you........
“For things to reveal themselves to us, we need to be ready to abandon our views about them.”
Thich Nhat Hanh, Being Peace
“When you plant lettuce, if it does not grow well, you
don't blame the lettuce. You look for reasons it is not
doing well. It may need fertilizer, or more water, or
less sun. You never blame the lettuce. Yet if we have
problems with our friends or family, we blame the other
person. But if we know how to take care of them, they will
grow well, like the lettuce. Blaming has no positive
effect at all, nor does trying to persuade using reason
and argument. That is my experience. No blame, no
reasoning, no argument, just understanding. If you
understand, and you show that you understand, you can
love, and the situation will change”
Thich Nhat Hanh
“We are here to awaken from our illusion of separateness.”
Thich Nhat Hanh
Dear Friends,
I hope you are well, happy, awakening from the illusion of separateness and enjoying this lovely summer evening.
There will be a gathering this Sunday evening at 6 PM at Cindy West's home (directions are below). We will have sitting/walking/sitting meditation, Cindy will facilitate the discussion as we continue to look at Thay's book on "Fear", and we will enjoy sharing the Dharma. I hope that you will be able to be with us.
There will be a gathering at 10 AM tomorrow morning at Westminster Unitarian Church for the Generations Sangha for all ages. I hope that you will be able to be with us for that also and support this fledgling Sangha. We will have a sharing for the adults, a children's program, some songs and enjoying the outdoors. After we end at 11:30 there will be time for fellowship and refreshments.
Remember, there will be a Transmission Ceremony for the Five Mindfulness Trainings on July 20 at the Bell Street Chapel in Providence at 10 AM. If you are interested in receiving the Transmission I have included the application form below. You can send it back via email or snail mail. If you have any questions about it, please contact me.
If you are able, please come and  support those who will be receiving, ....
The Radiant Bell Sangha will be meeting prior to the Ceremony from 8-9:30 if you would like to come early and join them you are welcome. They are also wanting to have a celebration following the transmission and are  looking for those who would be willing to bring tea, juice or sweet treats and are asking that if you are, you respond to Robert at rjrosa7@me.com, so they will have some idea of who is willing to help and what is being offered.
I know that not everyone was able to get tickets to see Thay in Boston or NYC…but there will be a Peace Walk in Boston on Sunday, Sept. 15 for which there will be no fee. It would be wonderful if some of us could attend. If you are interested in attending or ride sharing, please let me know.
For those of you who are going to Thay’s Retreat at Blue Cliff…or just planning a visit to the monastery, they have now created a Ride Share Bulletin Board….if you are able to provide a ride or need one, check it out!  http://www.bluecliffrides.org/home/
I hope that you will be able to be with us this weekend...and in the meantime, I hope you will be enjoying all of the wonders of life.
with much love, many hugs and a cool ocean breeze for you,
We live about 2 miles from URI.  From rt 138, go north onto Old North Rd.  (across the street from  big sign “Used Books, Old North Rd”.  Also, just a smidge west of the 138/108 traffic light).  Old North Rd starts off as a one way, continues on as a two way street, and finally ends as a T.  You will see our corner property from there.  Go left at the T (Old North Rd meets Stoneyfort Rd), and then a quick right onto Plantation Dr.  We are the first home on the right (2nd driveway is easiest).  Come on in the side door (porch/kitchen)!
