6-7-13 Sanghas - Update

A Bee's Eye View!
Looking deeply we can see that the iris is made of the sun, rain, minerals of the earth, everything in the cosmos......just like us!
The flower is the perfect teacher of impermanence. Nothing we can do will make it stay. It will fade and continue as compost. Knowing this, it makes our appreciation of it that much deeper! ...it's just like us!
-Thich Nhat Hanh
Dear Friends,
I hope you are all well and happy and enjoying the glorious flowering of this planet of ours. I also hope that this finds you flowering beautifully yourself!
There will be a gathering of the Clear Heart Sangha on Sunday evening at 6 PM at the home of Cindy West. This should be a wonderful gathering. There will be sitting/walking/sitting meditation. The focus for these second Sunday meetings has been Thay's  book , "Fear". To compliment this, Cindy will be showing a wonderful short film of a talk given by Brene Brown on vulnerability, the fear of which keeps us caught.  Then we will enjoy sharing the Dharma. I hope you can be with us. Directions to Cindy's are below.
Don't forget Penny's Art Show...opening tomorrow..info below!
There will be a Generations Sangha gathering tomorrow morning at the Westminster Unitarian Church. Eric writes...
"Just a reminder that the Generations Sangha will be gathering tomorrow, Saturday 6/8 at 10:00 a.m., at the Westminster Church. Our theme this week will be on stopping, calming, resting and healing. As always, there will be children's programs. It looks like we will be cozy inside in the rain tomorrow."
The meeting ends at 11:30 followed by snacks and fellowship. Kristen will be offering the children's program.  It is always fun to be practicing with all ages...I hope you will be able to attend.
The Mind Tamers will be gathering on Tuesday evening, June 11 at 6:30 at St. Matthew and Mark Church in West Barrington. We will have sitting/walking/sitting, I will offer a short talk about creativity and the practice....and we will enjoy sharing the Dharma. I hope you will be able to be with us.
The Clear Path Sangha will be meeting at Westminster Unitarian Church in East Greenwich at 6 PM on Wednesday evening, June 12. We will enjoy sitting/walking/sitting, I will give a short talk on putting the Four Noble Truths into practice and finding our way down the eightfold path....and we will enjoy each other and sharing the Dharma.
Clare sent an attachment about the Nonviolence Summer Institute gathering that the sangha helps to co-host. It is a potluck supper and they are in need of lots of food for a dinner for a group of folks from all over the world who are participating in the Institute. If you can contribute a dish, or a number of them, please do! It's a lovely gathering. I cannot forward attachments so I have copied the info from the flyer below. The Beloved Community Supper The time listed here is 5:30 – 7:00 p.m. on Monday, June 10 and it will be held at the Multicultural Center at URI. The monastics at Blue Cliff are looking for folks who might be able to help them get the monastery ready for Thay's visit. You can stay at the monastery for a weekend...there will be no charge...just donate what you can. More information is below.
I hope you will be able to be with us for some or all of the above gatherings...
I also hope your spirits have not been dampened by this rain (which is essential for the flowering to happen), but instead, this finds you dancing in it or puddle jumping!  If dampening is happening may I suggest this video? Enjoy!!!!
with much love, many hugs and the freedom of a raindrop becoming one with the puddle for you,
We live about 2 miles from URI.
From rt 138, go north onto Old North Rd.  (across the street from  big sign “Used Books, Old North Rd”.  Also, just a smidge west of the 138/108 traffic light).
Old North Rd starts off as a one way, continues on as a two way street, and finally ends as a T.  You will see our corner property from there.  Go left at the T (Old North Rd meets Stoneyfort Rd), and then a quick right onto Plantation Dr.  We are the first home on the right (2nd driveway is easiest).  Come on in the side door (porch/kitchen)!

Dear friends,
The Outreach Team here at Blue Cliff Monastery is happy to announce the new Saturday Community Working Meditation! For most of the Saturday's from now until the end of July the Monastery invites you to support our preparations for Thây's upcoming tour. Our work coordinators have created a schedule with Working Meditation from approximately 9:30 - 11:30am and 3:00 - 5:00pm for six of the next eight Saturdays, excluding 6/22 and 7/6. Friday and Saturday night stays on those six weekends will be "pay by donation" to make it easier for more of you to come up and help out. Been thinking about bringing your whole Sangha here for a weekend retreat? Now is the time!
We have a lot of projects to complete before Thich Nhat Hanh's arrival in August that include everything from landscaping and staining new outdoor decks to office work. Keep an eye out for follow up emails and posts on our website that will announce the scheduling of specific projects. Also feel free to email us here atoutreach@bluecliffmonastery.org with any special skills you have and/or tools you can provide during those weekends or any other time. Please make the subject of your email "Working Meditation" and we will add your skills, tools, and availability to our new Human Resources Database.
Registration as always is available online here: http://bluecliffmonastery.org/sidebar/visiting-us
Thank you for all of your support!
smiling and working in the present moment,
Dave Kenneally and Br. Phap Man
