4/3/2013 Sangha Updates for Three Sanghas

How could we be anything but happy in the presence of such beauty?
....The sun was warm but the wind was chill.

You know how it is with an April day When the sun is out and the wind is still, You’re one month on in the middle of May. But if you so much as dare to speak, A cloud comes over the sunlit arch, A wind comes off a frozen peak, And you’re two months back in the middle of March....

Dear Friends,
I hope you are enjoying this changeable springtime weather...the daffodils are coming on no matter what!
I will be away from the computer for some of April....so please keep this email for future reference!
There will be a gathering this coming Sunday, April 7th at the Unitarian Universalist Congregation of South Kingstown at the Lily Pads on North Rd in Peace Dale  at 6 PM. There will be sitting, sharing the Dharma and the Recitation of the Five Mindfulness Trainings. Clare will be facilitating and I hope you will all be able to be there.
The second Sunday meeting will be held at the home of Cindy West...directions below...at 6 PM on Sunday the 14th. This will be a book study group. I have suggested that the group might like to follow their study of Thay's book, Anger with his new book, Fear. Cindy will facilitate this meeting...this from Cindy
Greetings all,
Cindy West here, and I am happy to give a go at hosting the 2nd Sunday, 6pm, sangha at our home.  We are not too difficult to find...
We live about 2 miles from URI.  From rt 138, go north onto Old North Rd.  (across the street from  big sign “Used Books, Old North Rd”.  Also, just a smidge west of the 138/108 traffic light).  Old North Rd starts off as a one way, continues on as a two way street, and finally ends as a T.  You will see our corner property from there.  Go left at the T (Old North Rd meets Stoneyfort Rd), and then a quick right onto Plantation Dr.  We are the first home on the right (2nd driveway is easiest).  Come on in the side door (porch/kitchen)!
As far as the meeting....  I feel somewhat new at this.  My thought is that for our April 14 meeting we might jointly choose a study guide, ie, book, text, etc.    We will likely also have a meditation and a dharma sharing.  Any other ideas are surely welcome.  I hope you can come!
A deep bow of gratitude to Cindy for hosting this gathering.!
The Mind Tamers will meet on Tuesday, April 9th at 6:30 at Sts. Matthew and Mark Church in West Barrington. This meeting will include sitting/walking/sitting meditation, sharing the Dharma and will be facilitated by Shana and Ellen. It should be wonderful. I hope you will be able to make it.
The Clear Path Sangha WILL NOT BE MEETING on April 10 as too many will be away at that time!
We will meet again on April 24, at 6 PM and Athan will be facilitating the meeting. I hope that you all have good travels and that you are able to be there on the 24th.
The RI Community of Mindfulness is organizing a second annual retreat to be held at Camp Aldersgate in N. Scituate, RI from May 17-21. I do hope that you will be able to be with us. It is really wonderful to have a few days to deepen our practice and to be joyfully together. Registration forms and info are available at http://www.joannefriday.com.....and thanks to the generosity of our web Bodhisattvas Shana and Rob and Kristen...new Dharma talks have been posted at that site and a few more are in the works!!! Deepest thanks to all of them.
Speaking of Dharma talks....there are some wonderful talks by Thich Nhat Hanh available at http://www. tnhaudio.org
Thay's retreats are pretty full, but there are still some spaces at the public talks, etc. You can check them out at http://www.tnhtour.org
We have so many opportunities to transform our unskillful states of mind so that we can respond more skillfully to life and cause lots less suffering for ourselves and everyone else. We are very lucky.
And...to water your seeds of joy....a follow up to the video that I had previously sent
about the recycled Orchestra in Paraguay  http://vimeo.com/52711779
...and for those of you who have not been to our monastery at Blue Cliff, a video made at the Order and Aspirant Retreat in 2011. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uw6uzVv3enw
with much love and the sweet singing of zillions of happy peepers for you,
